SINNE EEG

Danish jazz vocalist Sinne Eeg (sée-neh/ée) is an international jazz star with a worldwide reputation. She won her first Danish Music Award in 2007 for her album Waiting for Dawn. Her dark vocals and modern interpretation of Nordic jazz touched audiences throughout Europe and Asia.

Sinne’s latest release, Dreams, is her 8th solo album, recorded in New York with Scott Colley (Herbie Hancock, John Scofield, Chris Potter), Joey Baron (Carmen McRae, Bill Frisell, John Zorn), Larry Koonse (Billy Childs, John Patitucci, Mel Torme) and Jacob Christoffersen (Curtis Stigers, James Moody, John Abercrombie). The album received dozens of enthusiastic international reviews and excellent airplay throughout the US, remaining on the JazzWeek Top 50 chart for many weeks. The CD also received a 4-1/2 star review in DownBeat Magazine, which said, “The Danish jazz singer, an established star in Europe, checks all the boxes; burnished tone, perfect intonation, swing, unerring taste and an adventurous streak. She is a complete musician who, remarkably, also has a gift for interpreting lyrics in a natural, conversational way.”

In February, 2020, Sinne will release one of her most ambitious projects to date, We’ve Just Begun -- a highly anticipated album with the Danish Radio Big Band, for which Sinne wrote five original songs. The record was produced by André Fischer (Diane Schuur, Nina Simone, Natalie Cole) and mixed at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles by the legendary Al Schmitt (Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Ray Charles).

Sinne has many loyal fans in the US, Scandinavia and Asia, especially China and Japan. She is poised for a major breakthrough in the US and regularly tours there. She has performed with American jazz icons including Larry Goldings, Peter Erskine and Ken Peplowski; and at storied jazz clubs including the Green Mill in Chicago, Birdland and Dizzy’s in New York, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

The Danish songstress is also versatile, equally comfortable fronting big orchestras in concert halls as well as smaller ensembles in intimate jazz clubs. Everywhere she sings - Tokyo, Copenhagen, Los Angeles or Madrid - audiences are mesmerized by her stunning phrasing and scatting, all with natural, perfect pitch.

Sinne is also a great songwriter. Her talent for writing and composing won her the prestigious Danish Carl Prize 2018 for Song of The Year for "Aleppo," included on her album Dreams. She has received numerous accolades, including four Danish Music Awards (Denmark’s “Grammy”), the Danish Radio P2 Jazz Prize, the Ben Webster Prize, the French Prix Du Jazz and Queen Ingrid's Honorary Grant, personally awarded by Queen Margrethe of Denmark.
